Tell that to the Covenant
I've been looking around about this but haven't found an answer, so hopefully you who has their fingers on the pulse of Halo could help. So the Halo 4 Limited Edition has a lot of pretty sweet stuff but all the pictures only show the steel boxes. Does that mean the Limited Edition does not have the standard cover art? Or is it inside the boxes? Because I'm seriously thinking of forgoing all the swag for a piece of art.

Hrrmm that’s a good question, I don’t know for sure but I looked on one of the halo.xbox forums and some people were discussing how you may not get it, but I guess until 343i announces it we won’t know. It may potentially be on the game guide (if it has one?) … but just speculation at this point in time.

If it’s anything like the other editions of Halo that have been previously released, I know the special edition of Halo 2 that I got was a steel case and did not include the cover art but had a black and white pic of chief on the back…

The key art is definitely amazing, so I sincerely hope 343i will recognise this and include it in both editions.

When did you become a Halo fan? I've been a fan since 2003. :)

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been afk for a few days!

Well I suppose you beat me then haha! I became a Halo fan maybe around 2004/2005, was definitely too young and inept to play it when it was released so I was a late bloomer into the Haloverse. But ever since that day forth I have played the games, read quite a few books, bought a bit of merch here and there, and have been shunned for my ability to bring up Halo in conversations one too many a time ^_^

Thank you for responding. And I too believe some of them are far-fetched and not likely to be implemented- or so I hope. I don't believe anything until 343 confirms it.

That’s alright, sorry for the half-assed answer. I’ll try and keep a lookout for some juicy gossip or news on the Halo 4 front but until then, best bet is definitely 343 as you said.

Lol. Everything you are talking about is pretty old news... you obviously haven't heard of any of the new "leaks"... and you call yourself a hardcore halo fan... lol.

Hello, how are you? I wanted to ask you, what do you think about the leaks? Real? Fake? Like/dislike? :)

Hi, good thanks!

Hrrmmm I haven’t really read into them that much due to a lot of stuff happening outside the Tumblr realm but what I have read, some seems plausible while others I’m not so sure about…

Weapons spawning randomly sounded odd as Frankie pointed out. Read somewhere that there are no Elites in Multiplayer? Not sure if true but weird if that’s the case, are they going to be replaced or is it just Spartans?

I like how they’re taking the concept of Red v. Blue in multiplayer actually has a somewhat back story to it… that’s if what I read is true. I’ve definitely been out of the loop latley.

Thing is people will ALWAYS interpret things differently, try and make more money selling copies of a mag for an exclusive on one of the most popular Xbox games to add more controversy etc.

If anything, only read what 343 Industries lets out and the more so plausible leaks from credible sources. Or you could always read the more recent novels like Glasslands and Primordium and see if those will maybe have a bit of information on what’s to come in the games…

Your "On this day" post make my life complete, I love them!

Thank you good sir! I’m glad that I am able to fulfil your life needs with the amazingness of the Haloverse.

*sings* "I CANN SEE YOUR UNDERWEAR FROM DOWN HEREI CANN SEE YOUR UNDERWEAR FROM DOWN HEREI´M NOT EVEN GONNA LIEBABY THIS I CAN´T DENYI CANN SEE YOUR UNDERWEAR FROM DOWN HERE"

Alright, hypothetical situation: I've totally made you rage with my sweet hacks and you are getting sloppy with your shooting because you are so angry at me and the timer keeps ticking down before the game ends and you know you just can't beat me cause I am a boss and you are going to drop in your rating. So, my question is, what is your favourite halo weapon?

Only covenant weapons. They are purple and pretty.

you've killed all of my army and you've got one shot gun shell left and I'm pleading for mercy (not like I would in real life) what would you do???

Death by t-bag, as is the Halo way.

The spartan threes in reach are selected to form smaller squads then the other spartan threes, they are also intentionally equipped better. For most spartan threes, their missions are suicidal to buy time and seriously hurt the enemy, and they work in much larger numbers, so they are outfitted more cheap;y but with squads like Noble Team, their meant to function more like their spartan two counterparts. Although reach did get a lot wrong from the novel.

Yep definitely! And yet again, Reach did get a lot wrong from the novel.

Reading your answers to other asks... Wait so, according to what, game or novel, did onyx happen before reach? Then you have Halo: Glasslands (since the war finishes etc.) saying it's after? Any idea what should have happened?

Ok well with the events that occurred on Onyx there are quite a few dates. Referring to Tom and Lucy’s “suicide” mission (where all the other Spartan-III’s died) the date that occurred was July 3, 2545 (Nylund, p. 1, 2006).

But then after the first chapter the book changes the timeline to go back to December 27, 2532, where Kurt-051 and Chief Mendez are on Onyx where they are waiting for the arrival of the new Spartan-III’s to be trained (Nylund, p. 67, 2006).

The answer that I gave to undeadcp was in reference to when, at what time frame, the Spartan-III’s began their training/first mission. Their first mission was in 2537, before the date July 30, as it states “we were reviewing the record of your Spartan-IIIs since they went operational nine months ago” (Nylund, p. 81, 2006).

You’re right about the fact that the major event, which happened around November 2552, where Halsey, Kurt,Kelly, Linda, Fred, Will, and a few Spartan-IIIs find out Onyx is a shield world and it’s destroyed by Sentinels (page reference for that date is p. 315). This happened, in accordance with the video game, Halo: Reach, 2 months after Reach fell.

As for Glasslands, I have yet to read it as I’ve been preoccupied with other things.

The problem (although, good I suppose to see their innovative and creative ideas) is that there are so many different authors that they tend to mix up the dates or some overlap other significant events.

I mean Halo: Reach, the game, truly stuffed up a lot (or Halo: The Fall of Reach was wrong). According to my copy of Halo: The Fall of Reach, Reach fell in 2542, 10 years before it happened in the game (Nylund, p. 325, 2005).

The dates of what happens in the Haloverse are severely flawed, and the storyline with the Spartan IIIs also has a lot of discrepancies in it.

Sorry if I rambled… I suppose if you asked someone else they would give you an entirely different answer, as books have been re-printed, the Web says other things, other canons tend to disregard dates and events (much like Halo: Legends). So EVERYTHING is basically up for debate.

Yay!

Also, I think they did state that every Spartan III wore SPI armor. Because it was "cheaper". idk

Yeah they probably did, but then again you have to consider Halo: Reach, which likes to disprove everything written in the books, otherwise you wouldn’t have the Armour variants that you see when playing the game today.

I've read every book besides contact harvest. Not to be rude, but why would Jun be on Onyx? Onyx happened DECADES later. And wasn't Halo: Reach just a few years or at least ten after John and the rest were trained?

I was just hypothesising as to whether or not Jun would have actually existed, because the Halo canon tends to clash with its dates and storyline quite frequently. Especially the game Halo: Reach, script written by Jospeh Staten, when really Eric Nylund should have been behind it considering he wrote the novel Halo: The Fall of Reach.

The first Spartan-III mission was in 2537, so Onyx happened before Reach.

John was taken away in the year 2517  (when he was 6) to be trained with the Spartan-II program and Reach fell in 2552, so it was quite a while after he was trained that Reach fell. Check out Wikipedia, and look at Halo: The Fall of Reach because a lot of questions can be answered by reading the information there.
